Emerging Eagles

The Emerging Eagles Program was established to address the overwhelming need for a comprehensive support structure to assist foster youth in making the transition from a structured foster care program to independent young adulthood.

Being part of the Emerging Eagles means more than just receiving support - it's about growing, learning, and paving the way for a bright future. Our program is committed to each student's success, providing the tools and resources necessary to excel academically and thrive personally.

We are pleased to offer comprehensive support, enhanced learning opportunities, life skills development, mentorship and leadership opportunities, career and academic counseling, resource links, and a campus community.

The major pillars of support that Emerging Eagles provides include the following:

Academic

Students in Emerging Eagles get to tour campus with student ambassadors and join trainings on Workday, Canvas, and other tools. They are also given early registration access.

Students are encouraged to:

  • Make study groups

  • Use the Learning Commons for tutoring

  • Contact their professors through the Passport program for extra support.

Career Readiness

Emerging Eagles students get support during their time at TSC to set and update their career goals and track their progress. They also take part in sessions on job skills, personal branding, and career exploration. Students are encouraged to visit the TSC Career Center to get help reaching their goals.

Finances

A key goal of the Emerging Eagles program is to help students have the financial support they need to succeed in college. While at TSC, students can take part in financial literacy workshops and training. Many students may qualify for the DCF tuition waiver or the PESS stipend. These are handled by the Department of Children & Families and Big Bend Community Based Care, but Emerging Eagles staff will help make sure students get the support they need.

Additional Support

Monthly Brunches are a time for students, mentors, and staff to connect and build strong relationships. They also give updates on the Emerging Eagles program and help students learn more about the campus and the resources they can use. Brunches include workshops, trainings, guest talks, and chances to celebrate student achievements.
