Ten members of TCC’s Forensics Team brought home three team sweepstakes awards and 11 individual awards from the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament held in Washington, D.C. from April 10 through 15. The Eagles won team Silver Awards in Individual Events, Debate, and Overall Team Sweepstakes. This marks the 23 consecutive year that TCC has brought home a team award from nationals.
Team co-captain Allison Grove led the way by going gold in both International Public Debate Association (IPDA) debate and extemporaneous speaking. Co-captain Elizabeth Blair won silver in dramatic interpretation and bronze in prose interpretation. Varsity member Madison Reed won gold in program oral interpretation and received a bronze in prose interpretation. First-year competitor Pamela Healy added to the point total by winning a silver in Lincoln/Douglas debate and a bronze in IPDA debate. Healy also placed fourth as a speaker in IPDA. Trevor Bell, another first-year competitor for the team, received bronze in extemporaneous speaking. Blair was recognized with a regional fellowship award for her support of other students around the circuit.
Other TCC students who represented the College included Joseph Eugene, Grace Duvet, Aliyah Salce, Cassidy Cummings, and Janelle Dixon.
