Tallahassee Community College (TCC) honored eight businesses who provided support to the advancement of continued excellence of the College, at the third annual Blue and Gold Society Luncheon and Award Ceremony on Thursday, May 26. The Blue and Gold Society was created to recognize businesses and business leaders that provide incredible assistance to TCC through their donations of much-needed resources to bridge the gaps for students, faculty, and staff.
“We are so grateful to each and every one of our community business partners and leaders for the work they do on behalf of TCC,” says Dr. Jim Murdaugh, President of Tallahassee Community College. “These awards are our way of showing our appreciation and also highlighting the remarkable work of eight organizations that have gone above and beyond to help our students.”
The President’s Talon Award recognizes businesses or organizations who have contributed to TCC within a short time of engagement and have also provided support to a specific class, college department, or have financially supported a fundraising campaign or vital college event. Class of 2022 honorees include:
- Bank of America
- ESG Operations
- Florida Technology Council
- Dr. Edward F. Zapert Dental Clinic/The Molar Express
The Golden Eagle Award recognizes a business or organization whose support for the College grows annually. Those in this category have assisted a class and/ or College department, financially supported a fundraising campaign or vital college event, and or provided support to faculty and staff members. Those in this category also provide volunteer support, encouraging their leadership and employees to provide in-kind assistance to the College. Class of 2022 honorees include:
- Florida Department of Corrections
- Siemens
- Sunshine Health
The Nobilis Aquilae Award is the highest honor bestowed on an honoree. This business or organization has provided support to the College for many years from the classroom to the various college departments and programs. They have given ample dollars to aid student success and have collaborated on mission-focused activities that advance the College. The Class of 2022 honoree is:

“Partnerships with our community’s businesses are so critical to our work at TCC,” said Heather Mitchell, Vice President of Instructional Advancement and Executive Director for the TCC Foundation. “The awards that we presented today showcase eight amazing partnerships that support our faculty through curriculum development, our staff through program development, and our students by removing financial barriers. These partnerships are critical to our STUDENTS’ success, which in turn becomes our COMMUNITY’s success.”
