Tallahassee Community College is honoring 17 men and women in public safety who are alumni and stakeholders of the College during the second annual Heroes in Public Safety celebration. The celebration is a banquet on Friday, Jan. 29, 6 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 505 W Pensacola St. Tallahassee, FL 32301.
The banquet recognizes public safety personnel in the following areas: law enforcement officers, firefighters, fish and wildlife officers, emergency medical technicians and paramedics, juvenile justice officers, corrections officers and communications personnel who put their lives on the line or provide direct support for the safety and protection of Florida’s residents and visitors in Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty and Wakulla Counties.
The following awards will be given during the Heroes in Public Safety Celebration Banquet:
- Lifetime Achievement for those who have dedicated years of service during a distinguished career, had a long-term leadership role and made extraordinary contributions and sacrifices.
- Hall of Fame for those who have contributed to the advancement and support of their chosen public safety field and demonstrated extraordinary work and service to the community.
- Merit Awards will be given for the Unsung Hero Award, the Incident Award, and the Young Professional Award.

Banquet tickets are still available and the public is invited to attend. An individual dinner ticket is $50 and a table of eight people is $1,000.
